::: In Belgium Army, Navy and Air Force are integrated in under one single command called the Belgian Armed Forces with Naval, Ground and Air Components. As a result of this change most of the public events will have a 'multi-component' character and dedicated airshows will be a thing of the past. ::: One of the events took place the first weekend of July. Unfortunately the weather was very bad. And although the quality and quantity of aircraft on display was great, the organization ruined everything by placing these aircraft extremely close together. I'm talking 'nose-into-exhaust' type of parking. Some examples can be found here. With lots of taxitrack and platform space unused and others in use for (semi-) commercial purposes valuable space was lost to create a decent layout for a static show. A missed opportunity. Parking arrangements at the base entrance were great on the other hand. Total score: 5 out of 10 points. |
