Koksijde Airshow 2006
(Part 5) |
::: Koksijde airbase, situated at the Belgium coast, is the home of the 40th smaldeel (squadron). Operating five Westland Sea King MK.48 for 30 year now, they still have a Seaking (RS05) flying painted in the 25 Years marking. Also based at Koksijde are 3 aging Alouette 3’s from the Navy flight which are used for liaison and support flights for Navy ships. As they are reaching the end of their operational life time, they are 35 years old now, both Alouette 3's and Sea Kings are going to be replaced around 2008-20099 by the NH-90. ::: Because the nature of the operations at Koksijde it is no surprise that a large number of Belgian and foreign helicopters could be seen at the show. Also noteworthy to mention was the delegation of the Czech Air Force which showed their latest asset in the form of a JAS-39C Grippen. |
